I WAS BORN ON APRIL 19, 1960 in the district of New Works in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica. My mom and dad were domestic farmers by which they raised seventeen children. I was the only begotten of both mom and dad therefore all I had were half brothers and sisters. Even though they were not married, my parents managed to support all seventeen children by planting crops and growing livestock.
Far in the hills of southwest Jamaica, the air was always fresh and clean and at nights you could almost touch the stars. Mom led us as we sang together, she taught us to read the Bible and other interesting books, sometimes she told us duppy stories and African tales. My ancestral homeland and farm is still producing from the very trees my father planted. The air is still fresh and you can see the Milky Way nightly, truly a Blessed Land.
